How to make the perfect holiday coffee

Coffee is definitely one of the world’s most popular beverages to the point where most people can’t start their day without a cup of coffee! And with the chilly weather making its way, you could say that a cup of warm coffee is now a necessity. But did you know that coffee actually has some good nutritional benefits? Several studies show that caffeine can increase fat burning and boost your metabolic rate. Moreover, it has high levels of antioxidants and other beneficial nutrients. Lastly, coffee helps you focus and stay alert. Moderate caffeine intake, around 1-6 cups a day, will help you focus and improves your mental alertness.

So you may be a coffee connoisseur or you just want to try out making your own coffee, then here are some tips for making the perfect coffee for the holidays:

  • Buy good whole bean coffee. There are fresh, high-quality coffee beans that will not push you to break the bank. You may opt for a whole-bean coffee which gives you more natural flavors.
  • Look for festive options. And since you want to be on theme with the holidays, you can look for festive blends of coffee which you can find in any coffee shop or your nearest grocery store!
  • Steam your milk. You can steam your own milk at home through different methods: an electric milk frother or you can shake the milk in a jar to create foam and microwave it a few seconds to stabilize the foam. It is also good to note that opting for low-fat or non-fat milk will give you the best foam!
  • Customize your cup with festive designs. Your cup of coffee can greatly influence your coffee’s presentation. You can buy a Santa Claus cup, a reindeer cup, or any holiday-themed cups! You can also sprinkle some chocolate chips, marshmallows, or crushed peppermint on your coffee to give you that festive flavor!
  • Store your coffee properly. It’s important to keep your coffee in an airtight container that shields sunlight, as deterioration speeds up when coffee is exposed to oxygen. Never refrigerate or freeze your coffee beans. It is more ideal to buy a 5-7 days supply of coffee and store it at room temperature.
