DIY Fall Decor – Farmhouse and Rustic Fall Decoration Ideas

How can I decorate my house for fall cheap?

Once the temperature starts to drop, leaves change colors, and pumpkin decor starts to appear, we all know that Fall is near. And just like how seasons change, our house decor should change as well. It is only natural that you want to put away all the summer-themed decor in your house and move on to fall-themed ones such as pumpkins and maple leaves. And before you go out of your way to buy some expensive decor, do know that you can always make fall decor on your own without breaking the bank! Here are some ideas on how:

  • Go for a neutral color palette. Use a color palette that screams fall. Maybe browns and nudes. A good reason for using a neutral color palette is that it can be cheap since you will basically buy just a set of items with these colors. Let’s say neutral napkins, placemats, and more.
  • Make a wreath. If you are feeling crafty, then why not decorate your front door with a fall-themed wreath? You really just need glue and some leaves and branches from your backyard!
  • Don’t forget the pumpkins. Is it really fall when there are no pumpkins around? You can just visit your local pumpkin patch and maybe bring home one or two pumpkins and decorate your front porch or living room with some carved pumpkins!
  • Collect from nature. The cheapest way you can decorate your home is by getting some pinecones, leaves, branches, and twigs as an art display that you can just get from your backyard or when you are on a nature walk.
  • Buy faux decor. Go to your local thrift stores and get some fake leaf garlands, flowers, and plastic pumpkins which are definitely way cheaper and reusable for the years to come.
  • Decorate with baskets. Another decor that will make your house feel like fall is a basket full of fall-themed things! These can include some apples, small gourds, or flowers that will cost you only a few dollars!

How do you decorate a fall basket?

If you want to decorate your home with something other than pumpkins, then do consider a fall basket! A fall basket is very easy and quite cheap to make. What’s more is they really give character to your room! One of the simplest and least expensive ways to add rustic baskets to your fall décor is to simply fill them with flowers and sit them around your home. You can either choose fresh flowers or even fake ones if you are on a tight budget. These are great for entryways or even to sit on the porch for added color in your outdoor décor.

Another idea is to make a basket wreath. However, you will need a specific basket for this – preferably a somewhat shallow round basket. Next, you just have to decorate it with flowers and fall foliage, then hang it on your door or porch.

Another idea is to create a harvest basket. This basically just means that you will fill up a basket with colorful flowers and leaves which makes a beautiful centerpiece.
